Bind the exception to authoritative records
A carrier reports a delayed load while sales sees a promised delivery and finance sees a customer near its credit limit. Each record has an owner and a different update time. An alert becomes useful when the receiving team can establish which commitment is affected, what evidence is current and which decision it can authorize.
Use one shipment exception to establish the shared model. Bind the sales order, delivery, customer, load and relevant commercial terms using source-system identifiers. Keep observed status separate from a proposed response. A delay reported by a carrier might justify a revised estimate, a customer contact or an operational reroute. Each action needs its own business authority and acceptance evidence.
Qualify the SAP and BTP boundary
Start with released SAP reads for the actual order and delivery context in the target edition. Confirm the available fields, event source and communication arrangement. When a proposed response changes ERP, qualify the specific native operation and the state in which it is allowed. Keep the original source facts so that later updates can be reconciled. A generic connector registration should lead to a contract review before production use.
A proposed BTP flow receives the partner event through a governed boundary, validates its source and resolves the object key. The consumer records event identity and relevant source version, then refreshes the business context if the event is stale or contradictory. SAP Event Mesh documentation describes delivery behavior that requires deliberate treatment of duplicates and ordering. The integration should preserve the chosen product's actual queue and acknowledgement semantics.
Keep investigation and authority separate
An agent can compare permitted options, assemble the evidence and identify the owner required for the next decision. A deterministic service calculates exposure, quantities and amounts under approved rules. Build Process Automation can route a consequential action for approval. The action service checks current policy and source state before dispatch, then reads back the relevant SAP result. A timeout creates an investigation item with the original correlation reference.
A candidate Joule skill can answer which orders a delayed load affects and show the current evidence. A broader agent can use approved read tools to investigate dependencies. Both require tenant-specific verification of scope, entitlement and authorization. The current SCM materials document 33 agent designs with different implementation states, including 19 runnable development workflows. That inventory supports selecting a pilot. It does not establish 33 commissioned SAP integrations.
Measure the complete case population
Test a late carrier update, a duplicate event, conflicting quantities, a changed credit position during approval and a rejected ERP action. Measure decision-ready case percentage, handoff time, rework and unresolved outcome age. Keep cases that require manual judgment in the population so the result reflects the work operators actually face. AssetSolve SCM supports this cross-functional workflow design.
