Freeze what is inspected
An inspection definition describes requirements. Dispatch connects the applicable revision to the actual subject and required occurrence. A stable equipment position and the component installed there may have different identities. Preserving both prevents a later replacement from changing the meaning of an earlier reading.
Append the next observation
A retest adds evidence to the required occurrence. It does not overwrite the original observation. The failure, reason for retest, replacement context, and reviewer decision stay available. A passing value can coexist with an open corrective finding when the disposition requires it.
Approve the exact package
The report sent to another business system should pin the accepted subjects, observations, source versions, and destination. If the source changes after approval, the workflow must make that difference visible before the next handoff. Approval and reconciliation answer different questions.
