Glossary
A shared language for connected work.
The business and engineering terms behind the AssetSolve operating model.
- Acceptance criteria
- The evidence and conditions required to accept the delivered workflow or system behavior.
- Agent
- Software that reasons about a task and uses permitted tools within a defined workflow and authority boundary.
- Asset Ontology
- The shared model connecting assets, equipment, work, people, materials, evidence, and business actions.
- Barrier
- A control or protective measure considered in the context of a process or operating hazard.
- Baseline
- The recorded starting process or system behavior used for a controlled comparison.
- Bounded autonomy
- Delegated execution limited by explicit permissions, conditions, evaluation, and recovery rules.
- Capacity model
- A calculation of resource requirements under stated workload and implementation assumptions.
- Classification
- A designation controlling how information may be accessed, used, or disclosed.
- Close orchestration
- Coordination of finance dependencies, exceptions, approvals, and reconciled records required for close.
- Configuration
- The recorded structure and installed state of an equipment item at a defined point in time.
- Context policy
- Rules for retaining, retrieving, and compacting the information available to a model or workflow.
- Cost per verified task
- The operating cost associated with a task outcome that meets its defined verification criteria.
- Decision record
- The context, evidence, authority, choice, and accepted outcome retained for a business decision.
- Disposition
- The authorized decision about a finding or inspection result and the conditions for further action.
- Effectivity
- The rules identifying which equipment or configuration a requirement or instruction applies to.
- Evaluation
- A defined comparison of system behavior against task quality, permission, and failure criteria.
- Evidence
- Source information and recorded outcomes used to support a review or decision.
- Found work
- Additional work identified during execution that needs scope, cost, or customer authorization.
- Frozen subject
- The specific inspection subject and revision context retained when an inspection is dispatched.
- Grounded retrieval
- Selection of relevant permitted source material to support an answer or proposed action.
- Holdout
- Data kept separate from development selection and used for an independent evaluation under defined rules.
- Human approval
- An authorized person’s recorded decision about a specific version and scope of a proposed action.
- Idempotency
- A property that allows a repeated request with the same identity to avoid creating duplicate business effects.
- Inference
- Model execution used to produce a prediction, response, or intermediate result for a task.
- Inspection definition
- A versioned specification of required inspection subjects, occurrences, types, units, limits, and capture rules.
- Isolation
- A controlled arrangement for separating relevant energy or process sources during work.
- Lineage
- The traceable path from source data and revisions through transformation, workflow, and decision.
- Lockout
- A site-controlled method for securing an isolation under applicable procedures and authority.
- Management of change
- A controlled process for reviewing, authorizing, implementing, and verifying a proposed change.
- Mechanical integrity
- The discipline of managing equipment condition, inspection, testing, and corrective work in operating context.
- Model router
- A component that selects a model or method according to the task, policy, cost, and operating requirements.
- MRO
- Maintenance, repair, and overhaul of equipment through planning, execution, quality, and close.
- Ontology
- A model of business objects, their properties, relationships, actions, and the policies governing them.
- Permit
- A controlled authorization record for defined work under stated site conditions and responsibilities.
- Point-in-time data
- Information represented according to what was knowable at the relevant historical date.
- Pre-startup review
- A readiness review of evidence, dependencies, and authorization before startup or handover.
- Process safety
- Management of process hazards through current information, qualified review, operating controls, and learning.
- Procure-to-pay
- The connected flow from purchasing intent and receipt through invoice review, approval, payment, and reconciliation.
- Purpose-based access
- Access evaluated against the legitimate purpose as well as the role and classification of the information.
- Quality release
- An authorized acceptance or release decision based on required inspection and conformity evidence.
- Read-back
- Retrieval of the authoritative business result to confirm the approved action was accepted as intended.
- Readiness gate
- A review point that checks required evidence, dependencies, and authorization before the next workflow state.
- Reconciliation
- Comparison of source intent, approved content, and authoritative outcome, with differences retained for review.
- Research protocol
- A recorded question, method, inputs, assumptions, and acceptance criteria established for a study.
- Retest
- An additional recorded attempt that preserves earlier observations and their context.
- Return to service
- The authorized transition of equipment back to operational use under the applicable procedures.
- Rework
- Further authorized work required to address a failure, defect, or rejected result.
- Scope freeze
- An approved baseline of event work, with later changes routed through defined authorization.
- Segregation of duties
- Separation of responsibilities that would create a conflict if held by the same person for an action.
- Simultaneous operations
- Work activities whose interactions may introduce conflicts or additional risk requiring coordination.
- State
- The information needed to interpret, continue, recover, or verify the current task or business process.
- System of record
- The application or record owner that holds authoritative business state for a defined object.
- Trade-to-cash
- The connected business flow from an agreed commercial transaction through delivery, invoicing, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Turnaround
- A coordinated event for shutdown work, inspection, repair, modification, restart, and close.
